Well this was the show I went to on my birthday. It was such an awesome time. So tonight I saw A Skylit Drive at The Clubhouse in Tempe. It was so rad I can't explain! There were four bands opening up for them. First being Closure In Moscow followed by Hot Like Fire, then The Cover Up then Dance Gavin Dance. A Skylit Drive was last of course and out shined all the other bands that played before them.

I got to meet Jag (A Skylit Drive singer) and take a picture with him before the show while I was waiting outside. He was super nice and looked super tiny next to me :)

I am in the process of water marking my pictures and I have 2 full videos from the show also. I will post them tomorrow.

But apparently they do not know me cause I am half retarded, almost legally blind without my glasses and I had to look up how to spell 'Congratulations' so that I could put it in my blog title. 2008 Year in Review...

So this year is coming to an end. A lot of stuff has gone on. So many great albums have come out this year. Some dark horses that I didn't expect just came in a rocked my world. And that happened because I stopped caring what other people thought about the music I listen to. I used to look for validation from other people about the music I like, but that stopped. I listen to what is good to me and I LET music touch me and I stopped trying to force other people to listen to what I think is good, just give the opportunity. I doesn't bother me if you like it or not. I would just feel like a douche if I didn't offer to you what has touched me.

So for all of you that look for the things that you don't like in a band first, like if you don't like the type of people who typically listen to a band, or the way they dress or it sounds like something else or any other stupid reasons. It is time to start enjoying life and look for the things things that you like and just have a good time listening to good music. And if you listen to the radio for your new music, its time to turn it off and put some effort into finding quality music and bands, cause 95% of the time they won't be found on the radio.

So I have compiled a few short lists of various things.

TOP ALBUMS OF 2008:

1.) Foxy Shazam - Introducing

This album changed the way I look at music. In so many ways this destroyed my past view on music and turned me almost more picky about the music I listen to. Artists and albums that I thought were good, weren't that good anymore. This album heightened my musical senses.

2.) A Skylit Drive - Wires, And the Concept of Breathing

If Foxy Shazam came out a few weeks before it did, this would be number 1.

I totally did not want to like this band or album. Those were ignorant thoughts of wanting to hate this came from the old Brandon. As I just let myself get into music that was good and not trying to impress others or live up to some retarded standard of 'growing up' or whatever BS I hear from time to time. But damn after listening to this album all the way through. It just blew my f'n mind. I literally haven't been able to stop listening to this album. It's thoughtful, catchy, intense and powerful. They are so musically young but sound like they are veterans. The are so young and I don't know how they are going to top this album. The double bass drum action on this album is addicting and has always been a soft of mine. The vocals of Jag are unrivaled in the music world today.

As a side note, Jag has a very high voice (think Geddy Lee of Rush). Some love it like myself and some don't. There is a fine line between something being 'good' and someone not liking something. Good vocal talent is universal, some people choose not to like it cause its not their bag of chips, but that doesn't take away the fact that it is 'good'.

For example: Davey Havok of AFI and Michael 'Jag' Jagman of A Skylit Drive have the best male vocals in the Rock/Alternative/Emo/Pop/Punk/Indie music world today. Some people don't LIKE their voices, but that doesn't change that they are classically trained talent. Then there is the flip side of artist voices that suck technically but it works for them and people like it (which is most of the music world).

I will say though, for those not used to this type of music A Skylit Drive is an acquired taste. Much like most bands, it takes getting used to for lots of peeps just like if I wanted to get into Country music, it would take effort. It is a MUST to listen to the album all the way through like a Coheed and Cambria album (minus the stupid story line).

3.) Ivoryline - There Came A Lion

This Album really got me going on finding new music, especially of the 'Christian' genre. Every song on this album is great and 'There Came a Lion' was a staple on my ipod since the album was released. Ivoryline is straight forward about what their purpose is as a band and in their song writing. They are not ashamed of their beliefs learned how to package it so nicely.

4.) Secret and Whisper - Great White Whale

'Great White Whale' is a classic album. Their songs range from slow thoughtful ballads like 'The Actress' that just give chills like the best of them all the way to just straight ahead killer songs like 'Spider Besider' . Its just such a classic album that everyone should have. I can't wait for them to come to AZ for me to check out live. From videos I have seen they sound great live.

Its kinda funny how I am attracted to high pitched vocals from bands. Secret and Whisper, A Skylit Drive, AFI, Saosin, Coheed and Cambria and many others that are my favorites all have some form or another high pitched vocals. I don't know what it is. The sad thing is that only few can pull it off live (AFI, A Skylit Drive, Secret and Whisper). That is the true test of talent and awesomeness. Ones that don't have to use Auto-tune (Kanye West, Lil' Wayne and most other Top 40 crap) If you can't sing your own songs live without a computer program, just stay home.

5.) Why? - Alopecia

Another album and band that is not normally my cup of tea but turned out to be just a freaking masterpiece. Their unique blend of indie and just Witty hip-hop clever lyrics just blows my mind. This is one band that will never get the recognition or respect it desperately deserves.

TOP E.P.s OF 2008:

1.) The Wedding – The Sound the Steel

Dang, words can't do justice to this EP. Its epic from beginning to end. All the songs are powerful and most important meaningful. The Wedding is top 3 of the best music acts performing today. The guys are super nice and down to earth.

2.) A Thorn For Every Heart – Pick Up The Pieces E.P.

This EP is so rad. Once again an EP where all the songs are sweet. This EP really helped me and motivated me to get through the past could of months. Especially the title track 'Pick up the Pieces'.

This EP came at the right time and I'm glad I found it. And it definately wasn't on the radio. You don't find this type of quality on the radio.

3.) The Cool Kids – Bake Sale E.P.

I have been raving about these guys all year and now they are getting bigger and bigger. Hopefully The Cool Kids are the future of hip-hop in the mainstream. They are real hip-hop that I can get behind 100%.

4.) A Current Affair - Life In An Hour Glass

An awesome young christian/emo/hardcore band with sooooo much potential. They opened up for The Wedding all 3 times I saw them and they were great every time. Definatly check this album out.

5.) Everdae – Don’t Make A Sound

Another great young band with a promising sound. An EP that everyone should check out.

For a low budget video this is still a great song and video. The concept is the most important though. At the end as the chick pulls the wires out of herself and the screams of "Let go of the wires" . Its an important lesson for lots to learn, but most haven't yet.

A rad video for one of the best songs off their album newest album. Its a cool animated video. Definatly a song that needs to be listened to the whole way through.

Kentucky's Famous Turtle Catcher - Watch more free videos

As most know, I love turtles. Especially wild turtles. And when I lived in Louisiana, I at one point, had 9 turtles that I and Elder Hatch had caught roaming around my apartment. Two of them were alligator snapping turtles like the ones seen in this video. The can mess you up if they get a hold of you. But they are way cool.

These turtles are caught to be eaten cause they have lot of good meat on them. I have only had some once but it was great.

A Skylit Drive - 'Let Go of the Wires' DVD Review

So I just got back from the Hot Topic with A Skylit Drive's new DVD in my greasy little paws....

The DVD includes all 5 of the music videos from their new album which I posted in previous posts. A live performance at The Glasshouse in Pamona, CA and Interviews and tour diaries.

For a DVD it is worth the $12. The live show that is on the DVD is worth it by itself but everything else makes it that much better. I can't say enough how good they are live. Jag sings so dead on live it gives me chills. 'I'm not a Thief, I'm a Treasure Hunter' was my favorite live performance on the DVD and the 'Wires and the Concept of Breathing' video is a tight video.

V's are spaces "_" and L's are periods "." so take the first image to have a letter which is "V" when using that diagram of morse code that makes it a "T". The next image URL with a L or V in it is the letter "H" in morse code. New AFI album clues....

UPDATE:

So if you head over too www.afireinside.net there was just a few hours ago a black page which is really a picture with the file name ".two" now it has switched to a slightly different black screen with the file name 'iii' signaling the number 3. So we are assuming that we missed the 1st one.

We have been waiting patiently for 2 years for any kind of update and info into the new album. This is all we have other than Jade saying that the album is written and just needs to be recorded. I am totally excited for the next year cause the time before a new AFI album comes out is always exciting with clues and interaction.

See the below, just click on them to see them in more detail. These were changed only within a few hours of each other. Too me personally it looks like its getting more clear with every one. The 3rd one looks less pixel-y than the second.

I'm hoping it either reveals the name of the new album or the new logo that comes with every album.

So a few days ago AFI was a special guest at KROQ's annual Almost Acoustic Christmas. The performed a 30 minute set and it was the first time they have performed in a while. They did not play any new songs but they did play a song that they haven't played since 1997. Its called 'Love Is A Many Splendored Thing'. It was written in 1993 and was a vinyl only sing. It was the shocker of the night. Also Davey's screams we more awesome and powerful than normal. That combined with playing this old song gives me hope for their next album and the turn it will hopefully take.

My arm was sore after seeing this cause I was fist pumping my excitement into the air, just take a look.....

You released an album in May of 2008 and by december you have 5 music videos and a DVD out already. That is a lot of scratch for a label to throw down on a band in this economy. That band is A Skylit Drive. I've had their new CD for months now but gave them casual play on my ipod but in the past 2 weeks haven't stopped listening to them. I probably haven't felt this excited for a band since probably AFI. Just incredible talent musically and a true voice and they have only been together for under 2 years. These guys will explode even more than they already have.

For those who have not listened, you need to listen to the album from start to finish, this is one of those albums that sound good by themselves but to get the big picture you need to listen the whole thing. Cause it didn't become obsessed until I did just that. Kinda like Coheed and Cambria's 'In Keeping Secrets....' album but without the stupid story line.

After watching lots of live videos of A Skylit Drive I am blown away at how awesome Jag (the singer) is live. His vocals are dead on, Like Davey from AFI dead on. Although I hear a lot of similarities between Jag and Claudio from early Coheed and Cambria. But Jag has a way better voice on the record and live. Although Claudio's live vocals have always sucked, I have always loved his voice. Jag slaughters Claudio and i'm pretty excited about it.

Well I have been listening to A Skylit Drive's new album "Wires (And the Concept of Breathing)" . These guys are something I have been looking for lately. These guys are a mix of bands like Coheed and Cambria and Hatebreed almost :) Haha, thats quite a combo but I kinda been missing the Hatebreed and Static-X days.

I use to listen tons of metal and hardcore bands until I lightened up a lot. But I love when I find a band that can basically take the best parts of metal/hardcore and modern 'Emo'/rock that I tend to listen to today, and fuse them into a great sound. A Skylit Drive does that in a great way.

I guess I have a infatuation with live bootleg videos of bands that I like. Most people who know me already know that.

With that being said I found this recent video of Foxy Shazam doing an introduction and playing 'Ghost Animals'. I think it is my new favorite, I don't know why because the video quality is average but the audio is good. I guess it is the passion that Eric and the guys have onstage even when they don't think they are being recorded. I get the chills every time I see live videos of Foxy Shazam, they are one of the only true polarizing live bands of my generation. I've seen them twice live and will see them anytime they come to AZ as long as they are a band.

Just take a second to even just watch the first minute....

I hate black and white movies. I hate the overrated crappy Christmas movies that I see on TV this time of year. They try and force you to appreciate them, and I hate them for that. I don't need to name any titles cause everyone knows what they are.

Then there is the greatest Christmas movie of all time, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Thats right, you know it. No matter how much you say you hate it, deep down you love it and if you were home alone with every Christmas movie made and no one would ever know, you would choose to watch Christmas Vacation. Don't kid yourself.

So many classic moments to be had within this great movie. If you are familiar with the movie, your about to slap your knee.....

I've been listening to these guys lately. Most call Homer Hiccolm and the Rocketboys 'Ambient Rock' and some call them Indie rock. Whatever you want to call them, they rock. This is music I listen to when I want to chill out or when Im trying to sleep. But don't mistake that for boring cause I don't listen to boring music. They remind me of Paper Rival.

They were formed in 2005 and have released two studio EP's and a live CD/DVD. They are currently working on their first full length album. They are from Abilene, TX. There are 6 members in the band so they have a thick and polished sound with vocals, Bass, three guitarists, keyboard and drums. These guys have played Austin City Limits and various other tours. Look these guys on itunes and buy their stuff cause it is pretty awesome.

Dan and Hunter - The Meaning of Christmas

Hunter from AFI and a friend of his Dan have a new side project singing original Christmas/Holiday songs. Its pretty genius. I bought it on Itunes and freakin love it. Hunter has such a good voice for not being a singer full time. So go download the album, it is only $5 or so. They are actually great songs.

The Wedding live in Chandler, AZ (11/23/08) - DAY 3

So I on Sunday night I was able to see The Wedding on the last night of the Keep Breathing Tour 2008. Their last 3 stops where here in the valley. I was so stoked that I was able to see all three nights. It was so much fun meeting them and experienced what I have. All three nights were awesome. This tour was the first time that The Wedding has made it this far west and I am grateful that they did. One thing that I learned is that Matt Shelton, the singer, is a real man. He has been performing the past 2 weeks with a collar bone that is broken in 5 places, while being in pain the whole time. Just watch the videos and see how cool the Wedding are.

On the Sunday night show was at the First Baptist Church of Chandler. The stage/venue was by far the weakest of the 3 venues but it was still a blast and a good turnout. Since it was the last night of the tour, The Wedding and the other bands always have pranks going on so I was expecting there to be disruptions during The Wedding's set and of course there was. It is always in good fun, so it made this night more interesting.

I didn't get any pictures from this show but I got The Wedding's whole set on video and I am uploading them as we speak and will be up in the next day or so. I have been watermarking the videos and it takes a bit on our old Mac :)

Ok so The Wedding was playing in Glendale tonight at Rain venue at a church in Glendale and I made the trek up there to see them. This venue was way nice and was all around better quality. There were a lot more fans there which always makes it fun. The Wedding did awesome again as always. The lighting was a little bit better so I got some pretty cool pictures and a sweet video that is uploading as we speak.

Wow, so tonight I was so stoked to see The Wedding finally! I haven't seen a band this good live since AFI. No joke.

The show was a Bethany Community Church in Tempe. A Current Affair opened the show and put on an awesome set. They really got into it with lots of good crown interaction. The have the appropriate amount of screaming. They have a really good balance in their sound.

Then there i The Wedding. I have posted about them several times, you would think I am getting paid or something. I haven't been this excited to see a band in years.

They played all my favorite songs. They have such a thick and powerful sound, musically and lyrically. Matt, the singer, recently broke his collar bone so he was wearing a sling while on stage. He still was energetic and riveting to watch.

There were lots of people there that seemed like they were there just to be there. I knew every word of every song, and was screaming along like a teen girl. Matt even had me sing into the mic 4 or 5 times. It was awesome. Not only was their performance sweet, but while was in the halls after their set. One of their guitarists came up to me thanked me for singing along. I of course nerded out and told him how awesome they were and how long I have been waiting for them to come to AZ. I then proceeded to ask for a picture with him and he was so cool about it. He even wanted to go get the rest of the band so that I could get a group picture. They were all so nice and wanted to know my name and were so grateful. Cody was the only one not in the picture....(I look like a total lamer, but whatev)

I can't thank them enough for being so cool and humble. Everyone needs to check them out if you haven't all ready...

I have never in my life ever received any kind of award or recognition for any kind of accomplishment. I never did anything special in school. I barely got my high school diploma. You might be expecting me to announce that I have done something great to break the streak that I have had of failure. Nope!

But I did receive a special place in the Top Yelpers in the Weekly Yelp newsletter and featured on the Weekly Yelp page at www.yelp.com. This made me happy for a moment.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a bandwagoning zilch, but I like Yelping :) And hopefully someday I will be apart of the Yelp Elite.

Dear Wal-Mart,

Today as I was shopping at your wonderful store here in Gilbert I finally understood why I like you infinitely more than Target or other shopping centers. I always knew I loved you more than the others but could never put my finger on why exactly. I constantly hear people bash you for various reasons, mostly some sort of hidden race/social/cultural fear or ignorance. But most haters would say that is not the case, but between you and me, its the truth :)

As I was observing the workers at your store I noticed a huge difference between your workers and Target's workers. Most of the employees I see at Target are white teenagers that are working because the need money to go to the mall and buy as many V neck shirts and sweaters as possible. They are for the most part pretty snoody and typical white teenagers that are not very cordial or friendly (this is just a broad based observation, there are exceptions).

Then I went into Wal-Mart tonight to find employees there, usually 5-10 years older than that of the average Target employee. Usually working out of necessity to pay rent or for their children or their car payment and so on. In lots of cases this is their career for the time being. There is someone there to greet me and when I leave they thank me for coming. Your prices are factually lower that Targets and other stores. And tonight specifically the lady that was checking me out engaged in friendly conversation, asked if I wanted my water jugs in bags and after I replied 'Yes please' and mentioned that I have to take them upstairs. She told me that she would make sure she packed the bags extra efficient so I didn't have a thousand bags that I had to take upstairs.

With that being said, there are sooooo many more examples of why you are better than Target. This is just one of many. There is such a vast difference in the general work ethic. Granted there are time when your employees are rude occasionally but that seems to be the exception to the rule, not the norm. Im not saying that I will not go to Target, because Target has its purposes for me. But just know Wal-Mart that you are better in every way. I just wanted to say thanks for being around. Thanks for opening stores and creating jobs in this troubled economy. You are the best :) I would be proud to be employed by you.

Oh yeah, Also the fact that I can get my eyes checked and get some new glasses, get a family picture, get my sore throat checked out, my hair cut, my nails did, cash a check, pay my electric bill, print some pictures and get a $5 footlong all in the same place is plain beautiful. God Bless you Wal-Mart.

Chretien Point Plantation

When I was on my mission in Louisiana, I lived in a town called Opelousas. This area encompassed 10+ other small towns, one of them being Sunset, La. Sunset was a small town and it was only 8 miles south of Opelousas. We went there often because, although it was a small town of 2,300 people, it was growing. Incorporated in 1908 and it is known for being the 'Sweet Potato capital of the Nation'.

Anyways one day we were exploring the country area surrounding Sunset and wanted to do some tracting and in doing so we we stumbled across this.....

After asking around we found out that it is Chretien Point Plantation. Little did I realize the history behind this cool plantation home. Covering the property are live oaks, pecan, cherry, pine, mimosa and tallow trees. It is a 12 room mansion that was built in 1831. The staircase located in the main house was copied for Tara in the movie Gone With The Wind. The home was the center of a 10,000 acre cotton plantation during the 19th Century. It was one of the only plantations that survived the Civil War when the owner of the plantation waved a Mason flag from the balcony of the plantation during an invasion. The General in charge of the invasion happened to also belong to the Mason organization and he immediately commanded his troops to cease fire on the Plantation. One of the columns on the front of the house still show the damage of when the first cannon ball was fired before the General halted the invasion.

It is currently a Bed and Breakfast. I am excited to stay there when Beka and I decide to go Louisiana. Especially since there have been reports of it being haunted. But I know she wouldn't mind :)

When I was on my mission in Louisiana I spent my first Halloween and through the holiday season in a place called Mandeville. It was a awesome place just across the Causeway from New Orleans. But the night of Halloween, we decorated for Christmas since we were excited for the Christmas season.

So I decided to post my Christmas wish list early. I hate these lists cause everyone does them and I hate being the cliche, band wagoning douche. But so be it :)

A few days ago Davey Havok from AFI went onstage with the band Ceremony and performed "Straight Edge Revolution", it is a cover of a song by the band Project X, a straight edge band.

Its been a while since we have seen Davey around since they have been writing new music and stuff so I was pretty excited to see Davey and a little also a glimpse into old puck rock davey :) and to know he has still got it in him. This performance happened to be at the venue 942 Gilman Street, in Berkley, CA which is a venue where AFI spent a lot of time as a new hardcore punk band. See second video for old AFI performance for from 942 Gilman Street. Almost 14 years ago.

Well my family moved around a lot when I was a kid up till about age 7. I was born in Walla Walla, Washington. Then my family moved to Salem, Oregon. We then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I later served a mission for my church. We then moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Then on to Tempe, Arizona. So we got around when I was a young lad.

But when we lived in Salem, Oregon we went to the same church as the Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and his family. John's dad James Heder was our doctor. Helen Heder was friends with my mom. They lived just around the corner from our house. I was really young when we lived in Salem and remember very little about living there. But one thing that I do remember is the Heders. Mostly because they owned a sail boat that we would go with them to a lake and sail with them. Those were really the only memories that I have of Salem.

But I recently found this picture of my brother and I with Jon, his twin brother Dan and one of their younger brothers.

Well I found this today and I am excited to see this.

I'm sure lots of you know who Something Corporate and Jacks Mannequin are. Andrew McMahon is the singer/Piano player for both bands. I've had the chance to see Something Corporate live and it was a good time.

Andrew was doing Something Corporate from about 2000-2004. He then started Jacks Mannequin. He was set to release his first Jacks Mannequin album in 2005 but 3 months before the release date he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. His life came to a hault, cancelled his tours and started chemotherapy. But To make a long story short, he had stem cell transplant from his sister and is now fine.

Jacks Mannequin has recently released their new album "The Glass Passenger". It is his first album since his recovery. Its good, so go buy it on iTunes.

I was thinking about Son of Sam the other day and I realized that I had never posted about them.

Son of Sam was a horror rock side project or a 'super group' of sorts. Son of Sam started in 2000 by Todd Youth, guitarist for the legendary band Danzig. Todd sought out Davey (from AFI) to write the songs and sing, also Steve Zing and London May both from the band Samhain.

The album "Songs From the Earth" was released in 2001 on Nitro Records (AFI's record label at the time, owned by Dexter Holland from the Offspring). This Album is so awesome. The songs are powerful, lyrically flawless, timeless. If you are a fan of The Misfits, Danzig, Samhain, Tiger Army, AFI and you don't have this album, you need it. Son of Sam never played a live show unfortunately.

In:Aviate are from St. George, UT. They are a pretty new band. They are sort of in the vein of bands like Secret and Whisper, Saosin, A Thorn for Every Heart and Ivoryline. Which is awesome since Ivoryline just announced their new tour dates and they are coming to Tempe WITH A Thorn For Every Heart AND In:Aviate! The 3 bands that happen to be my favorite bands at this time are touring together. I am way stoked for this show cause its not every day that you go to a show where you don't have to sit through 3 crappy bands to get to the one you want to see.

Most epic live videos.....

Every once in a while I find a live video from a band that seemed so epic and I wish i could have been there. Not just a good song, but energy and intensity that can't really be explained. I've experienced a handful of moments at concerts that I have been to where I seriously had to stop and think "is this really happening, I can't believe I am seeing this" type feelings.

The Refused - New Noise (live 1997)
'New Noise' is in my top 3 best songs of all time and have worshiped this song since early high school. This song/CD/band was the single most influential factor that shaped the hardcore/punk/screamo/rock/emo genres that is listened to today.

Just watch this video, look at what these guys are wearing and see how out dated they look and listen to the music. This band was 10 years ahead of their time. I am thankful that this was filmed. I get chills....

I flipped to SNL tonight for 3 minutes to only see Lil' Wayne lip sync his way through a crappy song. It was embarrassing. I guess I forgot how much I hate this mainstream crap these zilches produce that is so fabricated and crappy that it can not be recreated live.

Everdae - Don't Make A Sound

A band to check out is Everdae. They are a semi-young band with a developing sound that I have been enjoying lately. Their new EP called 'Don't Make a Sound' is a mix of indie/rock/electronic genres and is easy and fun to listen to. There is kind of a darker underlying tone which I am drawn to. They are currently unsigned so buy their CD and support them.

These guys had a EP out in 1999 but had not released anything till now. You can buy it on iTunes for $3.99. Its worth the $4 for sure.

AFI have been on the down low for the past year or so. They are recording a new album which will probably be out next year sometime which will be awesome. I haven't been listening to them as much lately on purpose, I wanted to rediscover them. Which I have lately. It boggles my mind when I listen to them. The sincerity and talent within AFI are unrivaled. Its been almost 10 years since I have been obsessed with them and they haven't gotten old to me. They have helped me though lots of rough times in my youth, as I could relate to what Davey was writing. Enjoying the 'Debate'

I have been enjoying the first presidential 'debate' tonight. I think both did a really good job. Sen. Obama was obviously the junior Senator on the defense the whole night. Both are fighting for what they believe. I admire that.

My mind has been wondering lately and reflecting on things that are important when it comes to this election. I have researched at least 3 hours a day on the issues and where the candidates stand on things and what is best for my family and society. I have obviously made up my mind, some things are more important to me than others. I cannot support Obama. Not only morally, but I have not heard or seen any evidence/issues that would make me even consider voting for Obama over McCain.

I am excited to see where things go with this election. I not only hope John McCain wins this election, for the sake of my beliefs and my family, I think that he will.

With that being said, I don't think I am going to be talking about politics on my blog anymore. I love researching topics and reading articles.

Nineteen Ninety Seven - On the Run

I've been listening to Nineteen Ninety Seven (or 1997) lately and I can't stop. They are from Chicago and have been together since 2005. They were signed to Victory Records in 2006 and released their first album 'A Better View of the Rising Moon' in 2007. This year they released 'On The Run', which is amazing. You can find it on iTunes and most other online places.

The Wedding in Arizona.....FINALLY!

I have been waiting for The Wedding to come to AZ for 2 years now. They are finally coming, but not once but 3 times within 3 weeks! They are from Fayetteville, Arkansas so they tour the south a lot.

Their new EP 'The Sound The Steel' ,that I posted about a while back, will definitely be my EP of the year, hands down. They are the best Christian rock band in the music world today. They are awesome live and I am excited to see them in November. The best part is that it is a Bethany Community Church in Tempe, a nice smoke free and air conditioned building :)

This just out, A video from this morning in York, PA. Barack is distraught and lying. Notice the hands in the pockets, looking at the ground, weak tone of voice. Obama says MOST things said about him last night are NOT true?!?!?!?! Is this guy kidding?!?!? I never though that he would sink this far down and lie to his supporters as obvious as this. Hes not such a good speaker when he has to speak without a script when Braveheart music isn't playing in the background, Hollywood props are not all around him, and there are no fireworks.

He lies about the past 2 nights of the RCN. He says there has been no issues talked about, which is not true. Alternate energy, taxes, the economy, creating more jobs were all talked about.

McCain won't harp on Obama tonight that bad, cause last night the truth was told. He is predicted to lay out his main ideas for change from the Bush administration.

Congrats Obama! I use to think you were not that bad but now your officially a disaster.

Big O and Dukes Chevy Volt

Today on the Big O and Dukes show they had John Hughes on the show. John Hughes is the marketing manager for the new Chevy Volt, which is expected to be out in 2010. The interview was really interesting.

I've been hearing about the Volt for at least a year now and think that it is awesome that Chevy is stepping up their game in the electric/hybrid technology.

One of the main differences that is cool about the Volt is that unlike the typical hybrid, the Volt uses an electric motor first which goes for 40 miles without using any gasoline. Then the hybrid gas engine kicks in and charges the batteries and so on. Taking into consideration that 78% of Americans drive 40 miles or less a day, this is going to be a huge way for us to take reliance off oil.

NEW Doritos Collisions Pizza Cravers + Ranch

So I finally got a bag of the new Doritos Collision: Pizza Cravers + Ranch. I am a fan of the Collisions series of Doritos, ESPECIALLY the Buffalo Wing + Blue Cheese Collision Doritos.

These Pizza Cravers + Ranch are a nice combo. The ranch chip is just the normal Cool Ranch Dorito and the Pizza Craver chip has an Italian flavor mixed with a pizza sauce flavor. Its not an overwhelming flavor. I'm not sure if i would buy a large bag for a party or anything but they are perfect for a small snack as it comes in a small bag.

They are a solid 7 out of 10.

Ivoryline - There Came A Lion

Another band I have been listening to a lot lately is Ivoryline and their new CD "There Came A Lion". They are not re-inventing the wheel or anything but I sure do love them. They are another band that is the product of the Saosin/Taking Back Sunday style of music. I never though I would enjoy and offspring from that genre, but all the new stuff I listen to is either that or Industrial/Electronic. Kinda odd, I know :)

Ivoryline is from Tyler, Texas and have been around since 2003. Although they started out as Dead End Driveway until they changed their name in 2005 to Ivoryline. They Signed to Tooth & Nail Records in 2007 and recored their first label debut in February of 2008. Their album "There Came a Lion" was in the Billboard Top 25 Christian Albums, which is pretty sweet.

Today on the Big O and Dukes show, Method Man was on the show to talk about the new CD coming out. Big O and Dukes asked Method Man about the current Hip-Hop scene that is so predominate in the music world today and he said he was sick of "ringtone" rappers that pollute the Hip-hop world today. The Kanyes and Soulja Boys. You know who these clowns are.

Method Man was asked what artist(s) he is bumpin' and who to look out for and the only ones he said were The Cool Kids. Hmmm imagine that. You better believe that I was doing fist pumps for The Cool Kids when I heard Method Man say that.

So guess who is going on a road trip to see two of the best music acts in the world today? Thats right, yours truly!

So VNV Nation is playing in Anaheim in October with Tiger Army. I was doing fist pumps in the air when i saw this on their website. VNV Nation was one of the only few bands that i have on my "see before i die" list. And since they do not tour the US much, this will be such an awesome show!

I've seen Tiger Army multiple times before but now that Geoff Kresge (AFI's old bassist) is back in the band, they will be fun to see them again.

$22 to see VNV Nation and Tiger Army. Thats legit.

I have been listening to lots of music lately that range quite a bit, like normal i guess. These are some bands that I have been listening to lately that you should know about. All of them, you might not have heard before. Especially if you are a 'radio rat', as I like to call you. These bands are too good to be on the radio.

Jamies Elsewhere

From Sacramento, CA these guys impressed me. Even though i hate the word "screamo" , these guys know when to scream and when to keep it under control. They do not have a dedicated "Screamer" who is constantly screaming in the background, which is super annoying :)

Their CD " Guidebook for Sinners Turned Saints" has been recently released and is really good. They have some songs on their Myspace and pick up their CD on iTunes.

Dreamstate

These guys and girl are from good ol' Mesa, AZ. They are reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, Something Corporate/Jacks Mannequin. They are fun/chill to listen to with sweet piano and female backing vocals. This is something i listen to when i am going to bed. But still have energy, an energy that only young bands have. I don't know how to explain it, but its something different. These guys only have 85,000 view at their Myspace, which is not much, so you REALLY need to check these peeps out at their Myspace where you can buy their Album "A Place to rest my Head" . Get it while its new and HOTTT..
